Roger's Gardens Halloween

If you've noticed that my posts have been a little sparse lately it's because I've been out of town on a little family vacay on the California coast.  My in laws rent a house on the beach in San Clemente every year during the month of October.  They're nice enough to invite us so we yank the kids out of school and spend a week or two just playing in the sand and shopping.  (My husband rarely leaves the beach while the rest of us do our best to help the California economy.)

A place we visit every year is a beautiful and interesting home and garden store called Roger's Gardens.  Since we're there in the month of October we're lucky to see their big Halloween displays as well as their giant Christmas selection of ornaments, decor and gifts.

Here are a few things from their Halloween section:

Roger's Gardens will have unusual displays centered around a theme to showcase the Halloween merchandise.  (The ceilings are always decorated too.)

A Halloween tree filled with some ornaments from the vintage line.

Here is a close up of some handmade paper ornaments.

Their decor definitely favors the spooky side.  This vignette gives a nod to old Hollywood theatre with some creepy touches thrown in.

An old organ (a la Phantom of the Opera) complete with sandbags and skeletons.

Some theatre goers ready for the show.  The mister...

...and the missus.

I almost think it is a little scarier with the skeletons dressed up for a night on the town rather than in just plain bones.

The creepiest thing I saw.  A sofa being torn apart from a swarm of nasty looking sewer rats.  (I actually don't know what a real sewer rat looks like but it sounds worse than just plain furry rats.)  A little too extreme for my Halloween decor but it was creepy perfection in Roger's Gardens.
