Trial and Error

I really enjoy the inspiration I find from other blogs.
I saw this wreath from the blog, "Did Someone Say Party?" and knew that I wanted to attempt something similar. ( http://didsomeonesaypartysite.com/ )

JoAnn, the craft store was having it's Daffodil Dash and many items were on sale.

(All this time I thought the name of the store was JoAnn's. So either they changed it or I'm slightly crazy...)

Scrap booking paper was on sale.

(I realized it works better if the papers are highly contrasting. I bought some that had coordinating patterns and they didn't work as well.)

Hole punches were 40% off. I couldn't find the design I wanted in the larger size so I ended up going smaller.

I used pins with colored ends.

Here are the bottom of the punches. (I punched them upside down so I could see the cut-out on the paper.)

This is how small they were.

I decided to make a vase with flowers instead of a wreath since I already had a container and foam ball.

The flowers are actually much too small for the vase.

It took FOREVER! And I mean FOR-E-VER! (I only stabbed myself twice, drew blood once.)

I decided to move the flowers to a smaller vase. (I found this milk glass at the Goodwill.)

I think the proportion is better on the smaller vase.

(Please ignore my thumb. I obviously do not know how to use photo shop.)

Indoor shot.

So I found a bigger hole punch at Michael's yesterday. (40% off) The color combo isn't my fave but I think it looks better with the bigger size.

I had to make fewer flowers which was terrific since it was NOT fun! Punching the flowers was challenging. The paper kept ripping and I pinched my finger in the puncher. (Yes, it hurt.)

(That was either before or after I spilled the whole container full of pins on the floor.)

So here they are. I like them okay but I'm not loving them yet. (Is it just me or is the silver vase woefully tarnished?)

(This project may not be for everyone but for those who are adventurous enough to work with pins and punchers...)

The requisite photo in the weeds.
