Anatomy of a Gallery Wall

2. Addiction: devotion, great interest in a particular thing to which a lot of time is devoted. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (That of course is the second meaning of addiction, the first being the physical and psychological dependence on a substance..) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It started out innocently enough. I came across a frame at a thrift store that was just a few dollars and thought that maybe I could use it for something. Shortly after I bought another. And another. And a fourth. I soon realized I needed a purpose for the frames and decided that I was going to make a frame gallery on a wall. Now I had a reason to collect them. No restraint. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (After a few months, I realized that I needed to stop buying frames or at the rate I was going I would have enough to do a gallery wall for everyone on my street!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here is some of my inspiration: I like the simplicity of this arrangement and the color of the frames.
The white frames really pop on this darker color. And I hate to admit it but the animal head really keeps it interesting.

White on white. The frames are chunky and have a lot of detail so this works.

Same with these black frames.

Using both walls of a corner give these rectangular frames an added dimension.

Love the colors. Love the frames.

This arrangement was done very well. The frames are different shapes and the grouping is asymmetrical.

So on to my own gallery. The first step I did was to measure the wall space I was going to use and mark off the same size on the floor.

I then took all the frames and arranged them on the floor. And kept moving them around and taking away and adding until I thought I had a grouping I liked.

Then I put them all away. (And bought more frames.)

I took them out again and came up with an arrangement that I liked even better.

I had planned on using newspaper shapes of the frames to figure out placement on the wall but ended up not using them. (It just seemed like more work.)

The plan was to put them up on the wall to see how it all looked first. Then I was going to finish painting them and adding any finishing touches.

The problem is that I kinda like how it looks now. So I guess I'll just leave it until I figure out what to do.

Anyone need any extra frames? (I'm in recovery.)
