What's For Sale Sunday (Stamford, CT)

This week we're back in New England in the lovely (and pricey) area of Stamford, CT.  At $899,000 this charming waterfront home was built in 1968 on 1.53 acres.  The "waterfront" refers to a large private pond on the property.  (But hey, it's still water!)  This 4,200 sq ft home is situated on a culdesac and sports 4 bedrooms and 4 baths.

The eat-in kitchen has stainless steel appliances.  And for those who love knotty wood--you're in luck!

A spacious master bedroom overlooks the trees.  (Not quite a fan of the red--or is it orange?)

 Tranquil view from the deck.

More of the private pond.  (I wonder if they have a mosquito problem?)

The second home on the tour was built in 1960 and sits on 3 lush acres.  At 6,500 sq ft with 5 bedrooms and 6 baths this spacious retreat boasts a 4 car garage and guest cottage.  It is listed in the $2.1 million range.  (So affordable.)  Described as "different and appealing" this home definitely has some curb appeal.

An extremely roomy dining room.  I love all the windows.  (Although, fingerprints might be a challenge.)

I thought this was an interesting landing area.  (Perfect for those roller derby family nights.)

One of my favorite areas of the house.  (Even though it looks out onto the driveway.)  I bet it's beautiful in Springtime.

The backside of this house looks like a lodge with the enormous pool.  The perfect party backyard.

The third house is in it's own category.  (It sits on an Island by the way.)  Listed for a mere $18.9 million this 14,149 sq ft home is on Long Island Sound near Manhattan.  With 11 bedrooms, 11 baths, a guest cottage, working greenhouse and pool this luxury home is for that one of a kind (extremely wealthy) buyer.  It is described as being "luxuriously updated for today's living yet the period details have been carefully preserved."

A view of the house from one of the docks.  (Fisherman's Paradise?)

One of my favorite rooms in the house.  It would definitely need a makeover.  (I'm not quite sure what happened with the drapes--must be part of the "period details" that were so carefully preserved.)

Is this the kitchen of an $18.9 million house?  (It does have double ovens...)  Just remember, folks, it's an ISLAND!  It doesn't really matter what the kitchen looks like, right?  (Okay, on second thought you will need somewhere to gut and clean all the many fish you catch...)

And for those of us who have irrational phobias of swimming in a lake with unidentifiable creatures, there is also a pool.

And so for the recap, which is your favorite?

1) Private Pond--bug spray required?

2) Roller derby weekends?

3) No man is an island--unless you live on one?
