Gameroom Redesign

What do you do when you want to update, decorate or redesign a room and not spend a lot of money? You shop the house, of course! Shopping the House means that you will create the look you want by reusing items you already have around the house. It's a win-win situation! You gain a fresh new look and save money in the process. What's not to love?

Here is the attractive BEFORE picture of the t.v. area in the gameroom. (Yes, that is a pair of rabbit-ears you see. We refuse to pay for t.v.)

So I shopped the house collecting items I wanted to use. Then I put them on the wall for placement. It is a good idea to use newspaper cut outs of the items you will be hanging. That way you can move them around on the wall and not make 50 new nail holes. (Not that I did that or anything....)

The ugly process.

Here are the mirrors around the t.v. I had originally planned on painting all of them white. The flower mirror would have been such a pain to tape all the edges that I decided to leave it as is. I'm glad I did since I think it adds a little interest.

I was inspired by Joi at her blog, Nuestra Vida Dulce http://daveandjoi.blogspot.com/ (She used ceiling medallions around her t.v.)

Here is the detail from the panel I bought from the Goodwill recently.

This mirror was in the center of the star I had painted on the gameroom wall previously.

This mirror was brown metal and I used to have it hanging in my family room. It was from Pier 1.

I splurged and bought one item. This ceiling medallion from Home Depot.

This mirror had an old brown wood frame that I bought from the Goodwill a while ago for a project.

This mirror used to hang in my daughter's room when she was a baby. It was from Ross.

And the AFTER. (May I complain about my camera again?)

I'm really digging it. (Goodbye dusty ficus tree!)
