Since I had plenty of chalkboard spray left I decided to find an ornate mirror that I could change into a larger chalkboard. I didn't want to spend too much. I found this gold framed mirror while browsing at Tuesday Morning. It was half off so it came home with me. (Yes, I know the picture is of the chalkboard, not the mirror. I forgot to take a before picture, okay?)

I really like the beautiful detail and have decided not to paint the frame. (For now!)

Although leaving it gold reminds me of the Magic Mirror in the Shrek movies. (Just imagine a ghostly disembodied head drawn on my chalkboard. Ya see it? Just a little creepy...)

Back to the directions. I decided to remove the glass in order to paint it to give it a better finish. The mirror was held in place by about a million tiny little nails. And it was so much fun bending each little nail away from the glass hoping that I wasn't going to break it. Trying to remove the glass was a lot of fun too. I had considered leaving the glass in place and just taping around the frame about half way through but was afraid that the tape would pull off the finish. Anyway, After a considerable amount of time I was able to remove the glass without much trauma. I then sanded and used the chalkboard spray the same way I did with the picture frames in my previous post.

After the spray paint was dry, I replaced the chalkboard into the frame and "seasoned" it allover with the side of a piece of white chalk. I then erased it really well and it was ready to go!

It's perfect for writing scripture verses.

Leaving little notes for the kids.

Messages for my husband.

I'm really happy with how this turned out. It was easy. Again, the toughest and most time consuming part was removing and replacing the glass. Other than that it was a piece of cake. (Mmm, cake sounds good...) Super simple.
