Spring Centerpieces

This year I wanted to make something simple for a Spring centerpiece.
I found these brassy, gold toned containers at the Goodwill.

I had planned on using the empty shells of real eggs but came across these terracotta eggs at the Goodwill instead.

I painted the containers with Rustoleum Heirloom White. (Love the detail.)

The eggs I painted with Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze. I considered doing a speckled treatment and spraying them with a matte spray to make the eggs look more like birds' eggs. I ended up not being happy with that look and decided to go back to the shiny blue.

The grassy filler is that recycled looking brown stuff from the Dollar Tree. (One of the only dollar stores which still actually sells it's items for a dollar!)

The finished product.

(Helpful hint: I crumpled up plastic grocery bags at the bottom to use less grass and have a firmer base.)

I also found this little metal basket at the Goodwill for 99 cents. (I didn't even have to paint it.)

I wanted lush, green grass for a photo shoot. My grass is very short right now and a little brownish. Luckily, I found some weeds in (my yard) someone else's yard that had the look I was going for.

Ooops! No idea what happened here. (The picture looks great if you turn your head sideways to the right as far as it will go....)

Happy Spring!

Be sure to enter my GIVEAWAY now and until Wednesday, April 6th at midnight. (pacific standard time)
